High School NIL
Missouri
Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) · Effective Aug 28, 2023 (HB 417)
Last reviewed July 1, 2026
Heads up: In-state college-signing condition applies.
Key rules
- ›If you sign a letter of intent, it must be with an in-state Missouri school to keep HS NIL eligibility
- ›Collectives benefiting a junior high/high school are prohibited
- ›No benefit to entice attendance (undue influence)
- ›Can’t represent a school or perform an athletic service
Before you sign — anywhere
- › Disclose the deal to your school/AD within your state's window (often 3–14 days).
- › No school logos, uniforms, or facilities. No pay tied to performance.
- › NIL income is taxable self-employment income — even paid in free gear.
- › Get contracts reviewed. For small deals, a flat-fee attorney beats an agent's cut.
