Winter Academy · San Diego · Dec 1 – Feb 5 · Limited entry
Spring is won
in December.
We've proven it.
Ten weeks of in-person winter training, December 1 through February 5, with a two-time Olympic Trials finalist and his staff. Built so your athlete shows up to track season already fit.
Roster is capped. Once the roster is full, we close it.

Why winter
December, January and February decide your spring.
December builds the base
Cross country is over and spring is far off. This is the stretch where aerobic strength, durability and form get built — quietly, while everyone else is on break.
January decides the spring
The athletes who train through January and February start the track season fit, not getting fit. That is where April PRs come from.
It is proven
This is the same winter program behind Jaelyn Williams’s indoor season and Chiara Dailey’s State, Arcadia and Brooks PR titles.
How it works
Your athlete's week.
Three touchpoints, every week, from December 1 through February 5.
Tue + Thu
Coached practices
On the track with Eric and the staff. Real reps, real feedback, a group that pushes each other.
Weekend
Long run / strength
One longer session every weekend. Easy running by heart rate, plus the strength work that keeps athletes healthy.
Every week
A plan and a check-in
Programming written for your athlete, a weekly check-in with the coach, and a parent who always knows what is next.

Your coach
Eric Avila
His training said 3:49 mile and 13:00 5K shape. He never ran those times, because he left them on the practice track by going too hard, too often. That lesson is the heart of how he coaches.

- Years as a pro
A four-time NAIA national champion at Southern Oregon, Eric raced ten years as a professional for adidas and HOKA, made two U.S. Olympic Trials 1500m finals, ran for Team USA in Minsk in 2019 and won the 2021 USATF Road Mile title. Today he coaches with easy days run by heart rate and hard work built up when the athlete is ready, so they peak on race day, not on a Tuesday.
Eric is joined by assistant coach Christian Harrison, an NCAA All-American at Georgia and two-time U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier at 800m.

When does it run?
December 1 through February 5. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday, with a long run / strength session on the weekend. We send the exact location and times when your reservation is confirmed.
Who is it for?
High school runners who want to arrive at track season ahead — middle distance, distance and cross country athletes in particular. If your athlete does something else, say so in the notes and Eric will tell you straight whether it fits.
Does reserving cost anything?
No. Reserving puts the athlete in line for Eric to review. You pay once, after the fit is confirmed and the waiver is signed.
Is it one payment?
Yes. $2,995 for the whole winter, billed once by invoice. No monthly installments.
What about the waiver?
Every athlete signs the Trackbeast waiver before paying — a parent signs for anyone under 18. It takes a couple of minutes on your phone.
Does it conflict with a school coach or another sport?
No. Winter is the offseason for most track and cross country athletes, and we build around the school program rather than against it.
What if it fills up?
Entry is limited on purpose so every athlete gets coaching, not crowd control. Spots are confirmed in the order families finish enrolling, and when the roster is full it is full.
