▸Richmond recruited a group of standout Kenyan distance runners in the late 1970s/early 1980s, including Sosthenes Bitok and Edwin Koech, both of whom competed for Kenya at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics (Bitok in the 10,000m, Koech in the 800m); Koech also won the 1983 NCAA Indoor 1000-yard title for Richmond.
