▸Utah discontinued its men's track and field and cross country program entirely in 2005 for financial reasons, freeing up scholarships, travel, equipment, and coaching budget for other sports -- meaning Utah has run a women's-only track and field program for two decades, unlike most peer Power 4 programs.

▸Fred Sheffield was Utah's first two-time individual NCAA champion, winning the high jump at both the 1943 and 1945 NCAA Championships, decades before the modern women's-only program began.
