▸WVU head coach Sean Cleary has led the program for parts of over three decades -- as a runner (1991-92), then assistant/graduate assistant (1993-2000), and head coach since 2007 -- one of the longest tenures with a single program in NCAA distance running.

▸In 2024, West Virginia's women's cross country team finished as NCAA runner-up (164 points) at the NCAA Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course near Madison/Verona, Wisconsin -- the program's best-ever finish at the national meet -- anchored by Ceili McCabe's 6th-place individual finish in her final collegiate race.
