▸Western Michigan won back-to-back NCAA Division I men's cross country national championships in 1964 and 1965.

▸Ron Warhurst ran on Western Michigan's back-to-back NCAA champion cross country teams (1964, 1965) before going on to a legendary coaching career at the University of Michigan (1974-2009) as head coach of men's cross country (1974-2008) and men's track and field (2000-08), where he coached 11 NCAA champions and 77 All-Americans and won seven Big Ten team titles.
