▸Winthrop closed a remarkable era of stability in January 2025 when Ben Paxton retired after leading the program since 1993 - a run that produced 121 individual Big South champions, 420 all-conference honorees and back-to-back Big South men's cross country titles in 2000-01.

▸New head coach Raffael Craig is only the third head coach in Winthrop track & field history. The 2000 Big East pentathlon champion at UConn arrived in July 2025 from Purdue, where his athletes earned 17 All-Big Ten honors and a First-Team All-America finish in the pentathlon.
